 Aswan links Egypt with Sudan, it is the gate to the African continent, and is an important commercial center. Aswan is home to some of the most important Historical Monuments in Egypt. The colossal Temple of Abu Simbel was built by Ramses II (XIXth. Dynasty). The Philae Temple complex, once located on Philae Island, was threatened by flooding when the High Dam was built, With international donor assistance, the temples were moved and reconstructed on Agilka Island, where they can be viewed today. This beautiful temple complex was constructed during the 3rd century BC, and the main temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis.Also there are The temples were built out of a sandstone rock cliff, and representation of the deities to which each was dedicated are carved on its huge façade. Nearby, also saved, lies the small Temple of the King's wife Nefertari, dedicated to the goddess Hathor. There are other sites to see such as, Temple of Philae Island, The High Dam, Elephantine Island, Temple of Kom Ombo which stands on high grounds overlooking the Nile, The Nubian Museum in Kom Ombo, you can also cross the Nile to the West Bank and visit the monastery by camels. Days can be spent strolling up and down the broad Corniche watching the sailboats etch the sky with their tall masts, or sitting in floating restaurants listening to Nubian music and eating freshly caught fish. other sites to visit in Aswan :-
